On the road again

Ok, I know Jason that you are going to yell at me for taking pictures while driving again. Too bad. There really isn’t much to do on the drive between Richmond and Cville. I have to drive out to the RTD again today for a meeting. I had a fleeting thought a few days ago […]

Clark Headstone

Western Albemarle is home to many photographic treasures. I stumbled upon this while examining a cemetery in White Hall last fall.

Dolls are spooky

This sign makes them even spookier. Nuff said. -Matt

Night Train

I was out having a good time flyering for the Photo Night last night and stumbled upon this scene late in the evening. Trains are mysterious in a way just north of creepy. This photo I think illustrates that nicely. There is nothing inherently foreboding in the photo, but the weight of the surrounding blackness […]

On my way home

Yesterday was a tiring day. I really need to get more sleep, and a new bed. I was driving along and saw this great view and had to take a picture. I have been known to do that from time to time. Do you know where this guy was crossing the street? Bonus points for […]

I-64

I do a lot of driving. Highways, by-ways, city streets, and some country roads that I swear were really horse paths. Thanks Garmin. Sometimes you get really bored and think of silly things to do, like sticking your camera phone out the sunroof at *cough* 65mph. There are a couple of clues in this photo […]

Metro Moment #2

This picture is actually a few years old now. It is quite probably the impetus for my interest in the Metro. I took several frames before the person in the middle noticed right before he got off at a stop. As he did he turned around and looked at me and I got a nice […]

Digital Pinhole #3

After the Free Speech Monument, I think Lee Park is the second most obligatory photo to take in Charlottesville. Usually that is enough for me to avoid it like the plague. But hey, this is pinhole photography. A statue is a prime target. The added bonus was the couple laying on the grass which I […]

Digital Pinhole #2

Always be sure to clean your sensor before making pinhole photographs. That is unless you enjoy spotting in Photoshop. All the dust will render exquisitely sharp. I wanted to post this in response to Andrew Hersey’s nice image of the 1st Amendment I scrolled upon on Cvilleblogs. The chalkboard is really fun to shoot. -Matt

Farm with Fence

This is another shot from my travels in the Valley. The sun hid itself behind a cloud and gave all the colors a subdued look to them. Everything looked so peaceful.
